Where is Marathon Bahamas?
Marathon Bahamas is staged in the capital of The Bahamas, Nassau, just 183 miles from South Florida on a 30-minute jet flight.
How can I get to Nassau?
Getting to Nassau is relatively easy with service from Panama City, Atlanta, NYC, London, Kingston, Orlando, Turks and Caicos, Miami, Toronto, Charlotte, Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington DCA, Austin, Denver, Chicago, Newark, Dulles, and Ft. Lauderdale.
Airlines servicing Nassau are: Air Canada, American Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Sunwing, United, Western Airlines, Copa, Delta, Frontier, Inter Caribbean, British Airways, Southwest, JetBlue, and Bahamasair.
International participants arrive at the new Lynden Pindling International Airport.
Nassau also has US Boarder Control pre-clearance (Customs and Immigration).
Is Marathon Bahamas a Boston qualifier?
Yes, Marathon Bahamas is a Boston qualifier.
Is the course flat?
The course is flat, fast and furiously scenic.
Will portajohns be available on the course?
Yes. Portajohns will be available at the start/finish area and near mile makers 4, 9, 15, 20, 22, and 24.
Is there a time limit?
Yes. The time limit for the half marathon, marathon, and marathon relay is 6 hours. The time limit is a safety issue and applies to both runners and walkers alike. The roads on the course can only be closed for the allotted time frame.
May I wear my headphones?
Yes, as long as they don’t interfere with your ability to follow instructions from race staff, police and race volunteers, interfere with your ability to compete safely, or interfere with other participants. Race staff reserves the right to disqualify you from the race and remove you from the race course.
Is there a relay option?
Yes, there is a 4-person marathon relay. The relay exchanges are at the 10K mark, the half marathon mark and at the 30K mark. Approximate leg distances are 6.2, 6.9, 5.6 and 7.5 miles. Will be confirmed when course is certified.
Can I have someone else pick up my race packet for me?
Yes. If you need someone else to pick up your race packet at the packet pickup, he or she will need a photocopy of your driver’s license or some other photo ID.
Will baggage check be available?
Yes. There will be a baggage check available at the starting line area.
Are you offering a Pre-race meal event?
No pre-race meal event is planned; however many restaurants will be offering special price meals for runners.
What is the temperature like in January?
January’s temperature is deal for long-distance running. Low 60s in the morning going up to the mid-70s during the day with very low humidity.
Where is the turn around for the half marathon?
Turn around will be at the second roundabout on the new Cable Beach Highway.
Is there a walkers division?
Walkers are all welcome to take part in our half marathon. We are not holding a specific walkers division, so please enter the appropriate age division for the half marathon when you register as an athlete.
How old do you have to be to compete in the Full/Half Marathon?
You must be at least 18 years of age to compete in the full marathon, and must be at least 16 years of age to compete in the half marathon.
Are baby strollers/joggers allowed on the course?
NO. In order to ensure the safety of all our participants and provide a fair race to everyone, baby strollers/joggers are not permitted on the race course.
