DIMITRA RETURNS AS A MARATHON PARTICIPANT

During the summer period, Dimitra and her family vacationed in The Bahamas, truly enjoyed their holiday and vowed to return soon. Being an endurance runner, Marathon Bahamas was the perfect opportunity and an easy sell to her husband for a January return.

Dimitra will be participating in the marathon regaled in a military ruck sack, which weighs 35lbs and field or combat boots. Her first attempt, in this type of endurance event, was at the Bataan Memorial Death March in March 2016 which offered steep elevations and not-so-perfect endurance weather and she completed the marathon course.

Dimitra’s participation is not just for the challenge but, more importantly, to honor the fallen solider.

Running is truly Better in the Bahamas.

RUNNING MB RELAY?

Interested in participating in Marathon Bahamas relay challenge? Registrations are up over 75%, year to date. The event sold out in 2016 and many interested participants did not get to the starting line. The relay is a four-person event with exchanges at the 10k (McDonalds), 13.1 (Delaporte) and 30k (Cave’s Heights). Register now to save your space at the starting line.

MARATHON BAHAMAS IS #95 FOR NATE

Golf was the weekend activity of choice for Nate Larson until he moved from Atlanta to Manhattan, New York 10 years ago.

Running allowed Nate the time to focus on himself, he became engrossed in the sport and truly enjoys the ‘me’ time it brings to his rather hectic lifestyle in the Big Apple.

Nate has completed 86 marathons and has a very busy Fall/Winter racing schedule with the aim of completing his 100th marathon in April.

Running has taken Nate to nine countries (including Greece, Canada, Germany, Iceland, Japan, Thailand and US), competing in five of the six world majors and racing in all 50 states.

He is also a member of the 50 States Marathon Club, Marathon Maniacs and Marathon Globetrotters.

In addition to his ‘me’ time, running provides the social mechanism to meet other runners and travel the world. Marathon Bahamas will Nate’s 95th marathon, his 10th country and will be wearing bib #95!

CALLING VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are the backbone of Marathon Bahamas. If you are interested in becoming involved, have a great team of friends, colleagues and family, we invite you to form a cheer zone along the western course (Saunder’s Beach to Compass Point) and encourage our runners as they trek west and return east to the finish line at the Western Esplanade. Not only will you feel great about your service but you will be rendering invaluable assistance to our runners in the form of course support. Contact us at: info@marathonbahamas.com for additional information.
