Central Florida’s Elite Runner to Participate in Marathon Bahamas
28 October, 2011Jessica, the oldest of four, was born in Canada and was raised travelling around the US. Her incredible athletic talent was noticed early on and Jessica’s parents began enrolling her in sports teams and competitive races to help her find a creative outlet for her gift. These experiences gave Jessica her first taste of competitive performance and she hasn’t stopped since.
In high school, Jessica ran on the Varsity Track and X country teams. Her skill and constant practice earned her a scholarship to Arizona State University, where she ran on the Varsity track and cross-country team for 2 years and then transferred to Florida State University on an Athletic and Academic Scholarship, to run for their Varsity teams as well.
After several years of competing in cities across both Canada and the United States, Jessica finally made her way to Viera, Florida, where she landed a spot on the Running Zone’s Racing Team and a career in Pharmaceutical sales. She has competed on the local, regional, national and world elite levels.
Today, Jessica trains and competes regularly in the vibrant Florida running scene. She has been competing nationwide and appears regularly in various clubs and other venues. She is also active in her home church, running club and the Space Coast Community in Florida.
“Running has done so much more for me than just helping me to stay fit and healthy; the sport of running has allowed me to capitalize on the opportunity to earn a great education, travel, compete and be a part of incredible experiences I never would have dreamed of had I not pursued my ability to be a runner. The act of running frees me, which collectively benefits the mind, body and soul.
It motivates me to stay healthy, be more social, set goals, and encourage those around me. However, my athletic ability would not be possible without the right pair of shoes. I go through several pairs of shoes a year, but what happens to those shoes when I’m done. Let’s keep ‘paying it forward’ by extending the life of the shoe to another child or person in need!”
Jessica is presently a member of the WildSide Elite Racing Team and will be running the marathon event of Marathon Bahamas.
